THE SCIENTIFIC BASIS OF BABYPLUS
BabyPlus is distinctly different from all other prenatal stimulation devices or techniques
because only this approach has been tested for effectiveness and safety in clinically
controlled measurements by independent professional evaluators. Neither music, spoken
material, tactile, nor multimodal methodologies meet these standards.
The following points outline the BabyPlus advantage:
1. To determine appropriate material for the unborn child's growing mental
structure, the child's normal environment must be assessed. That analysis
reveals that the maternal heartbeat is the predominant influence - the mother's
blood continuously pulses through the placenta at 65 decibels (as loud as a
passing train). BabyPlus™ tones are preset to reach the baby well below this
natural level.
2. This natural sonic stimulus (the mother's heart beat) occurs at about one cycle
per second when the mother is resting. Through a process called auditory
driving, this stimulus serves as an indigenous governor for the rate at which the
infant's beginning brain waves fluctuate. Newborn EEG rhythms (proto alpha or
slow wave) are identical with that of either the maternal or fetal heartbeat - one
or two cycles per second.
3. Prelearning theory maintains that, if a sonic stimulus of repeated but slowly
increasing frequency (speed) as well as sufficient duration is provided, it will
meet minimal imprinting standards and the fetal brain will be induced to
accelerate the rate at which it compares and contrasts data, thus building
memory banks for greater facility.
4. If an increased number of neurons (brain cells) and their beginning
connections (axons and dendrites) are engaged during their most plastic and
receptive developmental stage - the prenatal period - greater strength in the
structure will result, much like exercising a muscle. The goal of prenatal
stimulation is to withstand the normal process by which at least 50% of all fetal
brain cells atrophy before birth. No more brain cells are ever added - once a
cell atrophies it is gone forever and all the active brain cells a person will ever
have are present at birth.
5. By reducing fetal brain cell death, prenatal stimulation results in infants being
born with enhanced mental architecture - a greater amount of neural material
producing brain waves that function at a significantly more mature rate.
Throughout life, this early advantage means the child will be better able to
absorb and appreciate far more of its environment than a child who did not
receive this advantage.
The BabyPlus tones passing through the maternal abdomen sound exactly like the
mother's blood pulsing through the placenta, only increasing in rhythm and
complexity. Standardized tests show that this natural, progressive sound pattern is
the most effective form of stimulation. Music is too random and complex. It is the
repetitive pattern of BabyPlus™ and the changes in the pattern that are most
beneficial for the development of the neurological system. BabyPlus™ may sound
repetitive to adults, but it is optimally effective for benefiting the unborn child's
forming mental structure - a neurogenetically appropriate curriculum. |
